What’s in a name?

Studio Shot 1

Living Pattern embodies a new way to say “I Love You” to a space. As a pattern focused studio, we create products with personalized love, which encourages them to return the favor. Surprising color stories, original pattern and curiosity are the vectors of experience that go into our Hand Adorned WallcoveringTM.

The vision for Living Pattern started long before the name came about. The world of textiles and repeat pattern is always evolving but, like nature, it is always evolving around certain themes. In the same way the structure of rivers mirror branches of trees and our irises reflect nebulas; ancient cultures, unaware of each other’s existence, created patterns with similar feelings and rhythms. This is the starting point of Living Pattern – finding the a priori aesthetic.

Our Clients

To support the always-evolving Living Pattern, we are always seeking to understand what designers would like to see in a great product. This allows the designers we work with to serve as a trendsetter for all of our lines. We’d like to think that our clients give as much of themselves to our brand as we do to their interiors.

While we are more than willing to bring visions to life, we know our prints, unique to Living Pattern, will bring a breathe of fresh air to your room and offer themes to base the rest of the room around.

Our Process

Studio Shoot 3

While most companies use printers and machines, we have found that hand printing has unequivocally better covering power on our natural papers and has given us much more control over the quality of the printing. What we’ve learned is that our process enriches the life of our colors by the slight gradations that occur. We are always finding ways to embellish these properties. Unfortunately, we cannot give away all of our secrets!

Every print’s process is so unique. One of the only congruent starting points is Henry Miller’s concept of the blade of grass. In that he says when given close enough attention, “[a blade of grass] becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.” Total emersion in the things we choose to look at is what really brings the magic to the surface.
